Cognitive psychology is the study of conscious and subconscious perception and how it relates to the underlying neurological mechanisms.

Visual Attention and Perception

Mark Edwards' lab aims to understand how the visual systems extracts and integrates motion signals and how the various pathways interact at different levels in the visual system. They are also interested in clinical applications of these issues, e.g. visual processing in long-term ecstasy users.

Face and Object Recognition and Memory

Mark Edwards lab's interest in the area of face processing is in understanding how faces are represented within the visual system and, based upon those findings, how faces are processed.

Reading, Dyslexia and Attention

Kristen Pammer's lab's interests involve investigation into the perceptual bases for specific reading and language disorders, and the dynamics of reading networks in reading and dyslexia. Unrelated to reading, they are also interested in neural mechanisms of visual search and visuo-spatial attention, as well as multi-modal integration and synaesthesia.
